There are some stalls available in the regular market that takes place in the market square. You can book a stall in advance for £25 (paid on booking, if you are not allocated a stall you are refunded when the stalls are allocated, unless you wish to be on the waiting list where you will be refunded when the market closes e.g. 12noon or 10pm.). Stalls are allocated randomly (with a slight weighting towards the first to book). You get to keep the total value of your sales. Stalls that are not occupied 15mins before the market opens can be reallocated to a waiting list. The original person loses their booking fee. Regular sellers (once you have attended a booking 5 times) can purchase a one-off Market Licence for £100 which increases their chance of being selected by 10x, and reduces their booking fee to £10.
Bookings are made at City Hall and need to be submitted by 12noon, allocation takes place by 2pm and you will be informed if you have been successful.
Anything can be sold at the Market, some sellers may be selling stolen goods “under the table”. The police occasionally raid the market or particular stalls looking for goods reported stolen (this is usually only goods with serial numbers).
The Market is open 6 months of the year four hours in the morning (8am to 12noon) and four hours in the evening (6pm to 10pm).
