Residential Areas

There are many different residential areas in the city. Depending on what you can afford you can buy or rent anything from a room to a large detached house.

  • The Workers’ Hostel / Hotel – This large skyscraper in the Business District is the idea place to start your working life. It rents single room accommodation (with on suite bathroom) that is basic but functional. There is a restaurant on the ground floor with serves meals all day. You may sometimes find foreign travellers from other cities staying in the Hostel / Hotel.
  • Apartment Accommodation – The next step up from living in a Hostel is to rent or buy an apartment. There are two areas in the city with apartment blocks on North Drive and South Drive. Both areas are only a short work from the City Centre and Shops, and also from the Business District. The closer you are to the Shops or Offices though the demand and therefore the prices increase slightly.
  • Family Sized Houses – Once you have a family you will soon grow out of an apartment. There are three main areas with detached family sized houses. They are West Drive, East Drive and Nature Park. Houses are available for both rent and purchase. West Drive tends to be the more affordable, while prices start to rocket the nearer you get to the Nature Park.
  • The Premium Residential District is Pines Close. These properties which are rarely available are the most expensive in the city, and they come with the most prestige.
  • The Island District is mainly an entertainment area with access to beaches, although there is some industrial buildings around the Docks. The accommodation on the Island is mainly hostel / hotel rooms. So holiday makers can stay here, but sometimes longer term residents take some of the rooms. Prices for short stay are at a premium, but good discounts are available if you need a more permanent place to live.

City Centre

The City Centre consists of two shopping streets: The High Street, and Market Street. The Buildings in this District are usually available only for commercial rent, although occasionally you might be able to purchase a building and become the new landlord. On the ground floor level you will find shops selling everything you could possibly need. On the 1st and 2nd Floors you will find Office Space for small businesses and professional services.

The Airport

The Airport is the place you go when you are looking for a holiday, or maybe a business trip. You will need a Passport, and for some destinations a Visa (either tourist or business). While you have limited space in your luggage for transporting goods, you can often buy stuff abroad that can be shipped to you in larger quantities (this requires the business Visa).

The Docks

Cruise Ships and Container Vessels come and go all day long. The docks is the place you will pick up any goods you have ordered from abroad. The docks area contains some storage facilities and some small industrial units that can be used for manufacturing.

The Nature Park

If you like a walk in nature, or relaxing under the shade of trees by a stream, the nature park is a great day out. There is plenty of space for recreational enjoyment. Please keep the park clean and pick up any rubbish you see, even if it is not yours.

The Beaches

There are two beaches where you and your family can go to relax, swim and enjoy the sun.

  • The City Beach – This is a small beach, easily accessible from the city. The beach is within the protection of the bay and see water is often very calm, perfect for young children. There are facilities such as public bathrooms, an information booth with details of water sports, and food and drink stalls.
  • The Island Beach – This is quite a large tourist beach, with lots of holiday accommodation near by. The beaches look out to the sea, and so you will find bigger waves here. Again their are facilities such as public bathrooms, an information booth with details of water sports, and food and drink stalls. The island beach is close to the fun fayre, where you will find lost of different activities and entertainments.
